Matt's XXX-SCT!!!!!!!!!!!
Quick links WIP
Set-ups Updated Mod SCT setup Updated Stock SCT setup TLR tuned Stock SCT build XXX-SCT "CR" Build What is VLA? SC Showdown/Outdoor 2011 set-up I'm happier than a pig in you know what. I never run my trucks stock, so I put on a connector and charged a battery. By far the most sure footed RTR I've driven. I'm used to faster servo's, but the truck drove awesome out of the box...and the servo saver was quite loose. The truck is far less "sloppy" than others and build quality seemed to be very good. One of my trucks had a CVD out of the outdrive, but build quality was perfect. I did notice the steering link ball cups were tight, but they will free up quickly. The routers for the wires are a really nice feature, and Losi put the antenna mount near the rear of the truck close to your reciever. I've started the dissassembly now.... I have these parts to install right away... 1. Aluminum rear pivot (3 dgrees) 2. CR shocks 3. Ball Bearings for the steering 4. Ti tierods 5 Ball diff with XXX-T trans case You can see the difference between the trans cases, the Gear diff one needs the extra circular area for clearance. Drove it stock and started to make changes to my liking. Dustin Evans gave me his set-up after the Spectrun Race so I have that to try too. Have to add 1/2 oz lead under the servo arm and 2-3 oz behind the battery. The truck is noticably lighter than what I'm used to. Wheels should be around next week. Going to put in my newest electronics.. LRP SXX TC Spec Version 2 LRP X12 7.5 TP (7.5 w/torque rotor now) Futaba 9351 servo/ 4PK radio Thunderpower 5400 25c battery Got a Proline SVT Raptor body for it as well as well as a stock body. Got a little nibble tonight can't wait to dive in! Last edited by Matt Sunderlage; 10-10-2011 at 10:07 PM. |

Lets say I wanted to follow your steps Matt. Do I need the XXX-SCT plus and old XXX-T CR. Or are the parts you mention easier to find than they seem?
And thanks for taking pictures and bringing us along for the ride. Last edited by snoopy; 12-09-2010 at 08:24 PM. |

It's been a long wait, but good things do come if your patient.

I got mine from Trackside (LHS). Supposedly BNDs will be available next week...I couldn't wait and already sold the TX/RXs. Quote:
1. ball diff (at least for indoor use) 2. CR shocks (you can buy sets I think) 3. Ti tierods. If you use the stock tierods yo'll want to put washers on top of them. Losi parts are widely available. |

Just a suggestion, i think you should leave the plastic 4 deg block on the truck. Jimmy tried running the 3 deg block with 1 deg hubs and changed it back immediately. The stock block is really strong if your just worried about strength.

Very nice Matt! Can't wait to see the Proline body on it, I think I will order another one for this truck. My painter has been sick so he is taking forever on my Proline Raptor for my SC10. When my son comes to visit he may inherit the SC10

I will say I have been pretty impressed with Horizon this past six months, they have come out with some great stuff and more planned. I've purchased three Losi's in the last couple of months and the quality's been awesome.
I bought this as a Christmas present for my 9 year old, he was jealous my other son got one for his birthday last month and it has turned out to be the perfect truck for them, now it is all they talk about and draw comics about R/C, they make me so proud!!! Its not to fast but durable (minus the servo) and semi affordable. It's been to the track three times and it absolutely rips on the indoors. Going to wait till they have the Rockstar version of the XXX-SCT in the 1/10th before I get one. Pretty sure it will be next on their list (I hope). But will follow this thread closely for anything I need along the way. |

I asked about the RockStar and was told that there are no plans to release the RockStar body in 1/10th. Oh well can always get a clear body and some RockStar decals and a can of black paint. I bet Matt's truck is going to be yellow/silver!

Ok this might be a dumb question but why are you soaking the stock wheels.
In acetone. Thought the wheels are beadloks. |

This truck is very nice out of the box, very eager to get it on the track. Something along those lines.. Quote:
I have the electronics in, photobucket is down or something or I'd have another pic up. The wire routers are awesome very clean no tie wraps. Depending on work I may just go race this puppy tonight. |

Grrr!!! I want one but gotta wait til next month to order one. I may order some stuff for it in the meantime, like body, wheels, tires, etc. Hope to see some pics of it on the track!
.....Well I went to AmainHobbies.com and ordered some wheels and a body for it. They had the stock wheels in stock. I am sure I got some unmounted Jconcepts tires somewhere. And also a ProLine Raptor SVT body for it! Maybe once I get all the stuff I'll start my own thread! Last edited by Matt Sunderlage; 12-10-2010 at 05:50 PM. Reason: combined posts |

Glad you liked the truck out of the box. We worked hard on that kit setup. With more motor you will want to change it a little but the truck works great out of the box and was tested on a few different surfaces and it was good on all of them.
Rockstar body is may be something in the future but not currently released for the 10th scale. ;) The 4 deg block really locks in the rear end. A great thing if you are on a loose track. If you have traction you can go 3 deg and get the rear end to rotate through the middle of the corner a little better. Like everything else a tuning aid. The 4 deg block gets the arms swept further forward which tends to get some more traction then going 3 deg and 1 deg hubs as you loose the arm sweep. Stuff to play with! |
